A place to relax!
We used the morning of October 2nd, 2024 for a final tour through the Mountain Zebra National Park. The weather was great as was our mood. The tour took us up to 1,600 meters; but these zebras also feel comfortable up there.
Back in Cradock we took a northeasterly course that took us via villages with names like Hofmeyer, Burgersdorf and Aliwal North to a place we had been looking forward to for days: Fish Eagle Spa! I discovered the reference to this on the Tracks 4 Africa map. What could be nicer than sitting in cool (evening) temperatures in 39° C hot water and drinking a cold beer?
A surprise when we stood in front of a closed gate. Luckily with a note and the phone number of the owners. Even more fortunate is that Brigitta has a smartphone with her. And the greatest happiness was when the connection worked. Erica told us how to find her and the key. We drove back seven kilometers to the farm where we received the key.
Then we went back and Brigitta opened the gate. A track (4×4 with gear reduction!) took us seven kilometers to the spa, which is extremely idyllic in the valley and on the banks of the Orange River. What a view from up here; the water steamed in the five basins. And once again we had the place to ourselves!
