On the way back to Omaruru, we made a stopover in Windhoek. Here you have large shopping centers where you can get everything you can also find at home. There is a good eye clinic and good dentists as well. Dr. Sonja Obholzer, third generation descendant of German emigrants, is one of them. We met her twelve years ago. On February 15th, 2021 there was a reunion in her new practice. It was a very modern one; and I relaxed on the chair. That was easy for me because Sonja is not only a good but also a pretty dentist – smile!

There was also a reunion with Garage Etzold. For almost four decades, Wilfried Etzold made it a name for professional work on 4×4 Toyotas. We went to Etzold for the first time in the nineties. At the moment they are in the process of doing the 420,000 km service on Mahangu. The garage is now run by Stefan Etzold, who ensures that the name will continue to stand for professional service on Toyotas.

PS. Overlanders rely on 4×4 specialists. Toyota as a brand is well represented worldwide; but a Toyota logo does not mean that you get always good service there. It’s only as good as the mechanics who make it …
