A festival for Cowgirls and Cowboys
When huge US trucks made by Kenworth or Pieterbilt roll through Kandersteg at short intervals, then we know what will happen. Then, a few days later, it is not all hell that will be let loose, but cowboys when the Country Festival Kandertal starts.
Last year we were there for the first time and won’t miss this festival this year either. As you get closer to the scene, you can hear the typical country music that we often heard during our travels through the southern US states. If you get even closer, you have the impression that you have actually arrived in the Wild West. There’s a saloon with a rocking chair on the porch. Stetsons and cowboy boots are sold there. And at another stand there is food like from the southern US states.
It smells like High Noon and you wouldn’t be surprised if there was a shootout between the sheriff and a bad guy. Luckily nothing like that happens! And the line dancers who populate a large stage give the event the peaceful touch that makes it so special.
