Home sweet Home!
On Saturday, September 16th, 2023, at 10 am, we landed in Windhoek under blue skies. Here too – as in Doha – we left the plane via stairs. (I understand that in Windhoek; but the fact that you have to climb a flight of stairs to get out of the plane in Doha surprised me a lot!)
Since we have had the Permanent Residence of Namibia for many years, we were able to avoid the long queue of tourists. We were soon standing in front of the little cabin where a friendly woman was sitting and taking our passports. She greeted us with a friendly «Welcome back home!» You can hardly receive a nicer welcome at an airport.
Now the last leg of this flight lay ahead of us. It was a four-hour journey in a large Toyota bus that took us from Windhoek to Swakopmund, which we reached at 5 pm, 28 hours after we left Zurich, we were standing at the front door of our house on the golf course in Rossmund.
Behind us was a pleasant long-haul night flight with Qatar Airways and a bus ride to the coast of Nambia. And in front of us were two glasses of sparkling wine with which we toasted to our second home.
P.S. If you want to know more about Swakopmund and its history, read here.
