OF MOZART AND MOZART BALLS

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791)

In 1756 a composer who later became world famous was born in Salzburg: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Almost as ingenious was Paul Fürst, who in 1890 came up with the idea of making a filled chocolate ball in his pastry shop in Salzburg. The inventor first called it Mozart bonbon. In 1905, at the Paris World Exhibition, the creator of this delicacy received the gold medal. Today these «calorie bombs» are called Mozartkugeln.

Eugendorf, where we complete the golf course, is only twenty kilometers from Salzburg. So, it was obvious that we would pay a visit to this town on the Salzach. It would be a pity if we returned to Switzerland without a Mozartkugel…

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, after a last good breakfast and with the certificate in our pockets that we had completed the beginner’s golf course, we drove to Salzburg. There, Brigitta had reserved an Airbnb for three nights close to the old town. We were excited to see what we would experience in this beautiful city on the Salzach…

PS. Brigitta has reserved seats for a Mozart concert on Sunday evening in the Mirabell castle. Maybe a Mozartkugel will be handed to the visitors to get them in the right mood?
