In the early morning of 16 December 2020, Mahangu was loaded with some boxes of vegetables on the Guest farm Tigerquelle. We said goodbye, because the way back will lead us past here again. (Because of Covid 19 we are not driving through Botswana. We have little desire to do another test. And you never know what to expect when you return to Namibia again.)
After almost three hundred kilometers we reached Rundu, which lies on the banks of the Okavango river, which forms the border between Namibia and Angola. It was teeming with people (without a mask!) and taxis. Rundu is the seat of the government administration of the Kavango region and attracts not only residents from the wide area but also Angolans who live on the other side of the river and shop here.
The sky was no longer blue but covered with puffy clouds. The further east we went, the darker they got. The rainy season heralds itself; the fields are tilled and waiting for rain. We drove another 180 kilometers and turned off to the Okavango river just before Divundu. Here we came across this lodge, which will be our home for the next three days: Riverdance Lodge
PS. The lodge is beautifully situated on the banks of the Okavango. The food is excellent; the wine selection large. And the beautiful campsites have all their own toilet and shower!
