Vines as far as the eye can see!
Since we first visited Piedmont together almost thirty years ago, we have fallen in love with this area. The fact that we met a winegrowing family back then was one more reason to visit Piedmont at least once a year.
With every visit, the vineyards appear in a different «dress». In early spring, when the buds emerge, they appear brown rather than green. In early summer the vineyards are covered in lush green. And in autumn, the grapes hang heavy and turgid on the vines. During the harvest season, the winegrowers travel with their tractors every day to bring the valuable product to the wine cellars and press it there. We still have to visit in winter – but then we’ll be in the southern hemisphere of the world – in Namibia!
Whatever the season: Piedmont is always worth a trip. Not only because of the landscape and the delicious wines but also because of the food. But more on that at a later date…
