SESSION ON THE NIESEN

Blues in full swing!

Summer time is not only the time of city and village parties but also of festivals. One of them takes place on the Niesen, a pyramid-shaped mountain near Thun. We were only there a week ago, but a trip there is always nice – even if the weather was rainy again.

And if Philipp Fankhauser, the famous Swiss blues musician, finds his way to the Niesen, then we will find it too. The sky was gray and it was drizzling as we made our way to Mülenen, where the valley station of the cable railway is located. At 5 pm, we got on the red train that took us to the summit at 2,362 meters.

Once we got to the top, the first thing we did was pay attention to the excellent buffet. But we weren’t up here because of the food, but because of the music. At 7 pm, we listened for an hour to Mira Lora, who has a beautifully soft voice and presented expressive songs. Philipp Fankhauser and his five accompanying musicians then took the stage. Wow! What we were offered was more than worth the trip on the Niesen. It’s just a shame that the session wasn’t held open-air like last year but rather indoors due to the bad weather…
