FACE TO FACE WITH GIRAFFES

How are you?

We enjoy all the animals we see in the Etosha National Park. It doesn’t matter whether it’s birds, elephants, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, rhinos, eland antelopes, kudu, leopards, zebras, oryx antelopes, impalas, wildebeests or springbok. However, the elegant giraffes with their inimitable gait are among the favorite four-legged friends. Every day we look out for this animal, which is connected to Africa like no other – apart from the elephant.

Yesterday, when we were on our way towards Halali, we had a very special experience. We drove at 30 km / h through an area lined with mopane trees and looked for rhinos. After all, we drove on the Rhino Drive and this was their habitat.

And then suddenly there were giraffes in front of us! I stepped on the brakes but the two long-legged animals made nothing to move to the side. With big eyes they looked down at us from a height of five meters as if to ask: «What are you doing here?».

PS. We have never been closer in our lives than on this day to giraffes. It is and remains one of our favorite animal – especially since this encounter.
