When we go to Zurich to visit friends, we always try to combine it with culture. Zurich is not only a banking and insurance city but also a very culture-loving city. When we read that an exhibition entitled More than Gold was taking place in the Rietberg Museum, we knew where we would go first.

This exhibition of gold exhibits from Colombia reminded us strongly of our visit to the Museo del Oro in Bogota in 2009. I still remember the entrance to this museum, which we entered through a thick armored door. At the time it seemed to us as if we were entering a large safe. With all these treasures, it’s no wonder that the Rietberg Museum also takes great care to ensure the safety. The exhibits are displayed in showcases behind thick glass panes. If you touch them or even get too close to them, an alarm is triggered – the lady who gave an excellent tour of the exhibition explicitly pointed this out to us.

We spent more than two hours in the exhibition and felt like we had been transported to the Museo del Oro. No wonder that we had the desire to visit Colombia again. Who knows…
