Petrified Dunes near the Namib Desert Lodge
We have no problem staying in the wild with no water or electricity. We did that yesterday, for example, on the Spreetshoogte Pass. We like to forego a little luxury that many consider to be essential. But we experienced a wonderful night under a twinkling starry sky. And an unforgettable morning as we looked at sunrise down from the top of the pass into the green Namib-Naukluft that lay at our feet.
After breakfast we drove down a few hundred meters on the steep road. Also, on this side of the pass, the landscape was dressed in a light green. After about eighty kilometers we approached the Namib Desert Lodge. What we had read about it made us want to stop here. The track led over a plain lined with flowers to the lodge, which is beautifully situated at the foot of petrified dunes. We planned to camp here but it turned out differently …
PS. The offer for NAM $ 750.00 per person (CHF 47.00) for dinner, accomodation and breakfast was simply too good to refuse. (Covid 19 is causing many lodges to make special offers – one man’s joy, the other’s pain!)
