COLD BEER AND HOT RHYTHMS

Lots of space for camping

We love the Sphynxblick Open Air not only for the music but also for the unique location on a farm. The organizer of this festival in the desert limits the number of participants in such a way that each participant and their vehicle have enough space to camp; and if no tree is available anymore can also set up a gazbo. With a daytime temperature of 35° C, that’s as important as cold beer!

We arrived in time to find a spot under an old, gnarled tree. Without leaves, however, even a tree doesn’t provide enough shade. But for such cases, we have an awning that provides shade. (And I have Brigitta, who knows how to set it up!) Later in the afternoon, as it got cooler, we made our way to the stage. There, a good band and cold beer were waiting for us, drawn from kegs. (Namibia has German roots and is a beer country!)

When night fell and we’d had enough hard rock and beer, we walked back to our camp. At 11.30 pm  we were lying in our sleeping bags. We heard music in the distance and saw the Southern Cross above us. Where does something like that exist? In Namibia, at the Sphynxblick Festival!
