GOLF IN THE EMMENTAL

Hole in One?

I was born almost eighty years ago in a farmhouse in the Emmental. So, it’s no wonder that I like this area and I’m always happy when we drive through this beautiful valley. Until recently, however, I knew the Emmental primarily because of its good meringues from Emmentaler Backwaren manufacturing, good Hamme (leg ham) from Lüthi’s Fleischwaren and good cheese from the Cheese company Fritzenhaus be produced.

We found out during a golf course in Austria that there is also a golf course in the Emmental, near Burgdorf. There we met a Swiss man who regularly plays on this course. We agreed to play a game with him a few days ago.

We were made aware that the 18-hole course is beautiful but also very hilly. That’s why we were recommended to rent a cart. Luckily, we did that, because I drove the last three holes as a cart driver and left the golf game to my companions. (To my credit, this had less to do with my condition and more to do with a foot blister!)
