I’m not someone who puts much emphasis on celebrating my birthday. And I’m happy if I don’t forget it – like I usually do the wedding day – which is difficult because of the congratulations that reach me from all over the world. I have fond memories of most of the birthdays we celebrated on our travels. Not least because they all took place in a special environment.

• 2011 in Lahore, Pakistan
• 2013 in Hiroshima, Japan
• 2020 in Santa Elena, Jalisco, Mexico
• 2023 in Barbaresco, Italy

For 2024 we have decided on a less exotic location to celebrate my birthday, in the BoRa at lake Constance. What could be nicer than sitting in a sauna and then refreshing yourself in the cool lake? (We will certainly remember the many visits to the onsen in Japan!)
