After yesterday’s long day of driving, we felt like taking a break. It was just under a hundred kilometers to Milibizi. But even before that, Brigitta found a reference to a wonderful camp on the iOverlander that is located directly on the lake: the Maabwe Bay Camp.
We turned off the gravel road and drove 23 kilometers to the camp, where we were greeted by Richard. He showed us a place under a tree. Next to it is a Boma that provides shade and a fireplace. But that wasn’t all: within a short distance there is also a clean toilet and a shower the size of a small room! We were more than happy!
The following morning, we told Richard that we would definitely stay an extra day. In the meantime, we are here for three days and will probably stay for another one before we head to Botswana via Hwange. We like it here where we can watch Fish Eagles, Bulbuls, and other feathered friends.
Last night we grilled a fillet that weighed at least a kilogram that we bought at Lions Den. An employee had laid out wood and all I had to do was pile it up and light it. After half an hour we had the perfect embers to grill the pita bread and the fillet to perfection! Add a glass of cool red wine and an espresso and a sip of whiskey for dessert. What more do you need?
