Oldies on the road!
Driving a convertible is especially fun when you can drive it open. However, this means that the weather is nice. This is rarely the case in Switzerland in the summer of 2024. We’ve had a rainy May and June and July doesn’t seem to be getting any better. (When I look out the window now, it’s raining from a dreary and gray sky – not convertible weather!)
However, on Friday, June 28, 2024, the sun shone from the blue sky for once. Knowing that the forecast predicted rain again the next day, I decided to go for a spin. Thought, done. The convertible waited impatiently in the garage for the ride-out. I quickly lowered the folding roof – there were no electric tops in 1985!
Then I got behind the wheel, started the 8-cylinder engine and glided away. We passed freshly mown meadows; it smelled of hay and summer. What a feeling to feel the warmth of the sun and have a blue sky over your head instead of a gray one.
In Reichenbach I turned off and drove towards the Kiental. The narrow road climbed in serpentines. I crossed a post bus that came towards me with «Dü-Da-Do». Lush green hills rose to the left and right and in front of me I saw mighty mountains of snow. What a beautiful day!
