A heavenly taste!
During my childhood I spent most of my school holidays on my grandparents’ farm. I usually liked it better there than at school, even if we had to help out a lot; whether it was cutting the gras or taking the milk to the dairy.
The farm also has an apiary. There the bees deposited the honey that grandmother put on our bread on Sunday. Now and then we got stung by a bee; but my grandfather only said at the time: «It’s good for gout and other complaints». That must be true, because to this day – I am now 78 years old – I have neither gout nor any other ailments. (I don’t have a Covid vaccination either – maybe that’s why!)
In any case, when I hear the word bee sting, I only have positive memories. Also, because in Switzerland a delicious cake is named after it. It is filled with delicious vanilla cream and decorated with roasted almonds in honey. The best bee sting far and wide you get in the Kiental. We bought two pieces of this delicious cake – what a treat!
