Three of a special kind!
The person who thinks I’m talking about myself is wrong! No, I’m talking about Paul Goldbach, whom I met at Ecky’s place. We drank a few beers together and had a chat. Already on the first evening I realized that Paul is unique. Born in 1947, with a long beard, he has traveled a large part of the world. With a green DKWs who was christened «Green August» and a few colleagues he drove in the seventies through the desert. (Who still remembers Auto Union, which later became Audi?). Later he went with a few colleagues on another trip together with a Borgward. With that he drove to Cameroon where he was stopped with an engine failure. Another time he went for six days on the Congo River from Bangui to Kinshasa. (On board they served monkeys and other African specialties as meals…)
We had enough to talk about for more than one evening! The next morning, we visited Paul’s place. We wanted to take a look at his over sixty year old DKW …
PS. If you enjoy African carvings, beautiful placemats or batik, you will find it here: Tikoloshe. Paul is the owner and gives a few resident work – if he doesn’t have to set them leave because of Covid 19 few tourists are coming to Namibia!
