When Brigitta heard about the Sphynxblick Open Air three years ago, the decision to attend was quickly made. When do you get the chance to experience an open air event on a farm in the desert, far from civilization? We had the opportunity for the second time from March 28th to 30th, 2025. On this date, this extraordinary open air event took place for the fourth time. After the heavy rains, access was difficult. The organizer told us that it would be better to drive from Swakopmund via the Valencia Mine. It was best to have a 4×4 vehicle – just in case.

That was exactly what we needed! Where does an open air event take place that can only be reached by 4×4 vehicle? In Namibia, of course! On March 28th, 2025, at 10:00 am, we set off. Seventy kilometers after Swakop, we turned off toward the Khan River and the Valencia mine. A auseway leads through the dry riverbed; but it was clearly visible the volume of water that flowed here a few days ago. Then there’s no way through!

Two hours later, we reached the Sphynxblick Farm and found a spot in the shade of a tree where weaver birds had their nests. Here we were far enough away from the stage to sleep well at night. Or to sit out a band whose music (e.g., heavy metal) we didn’t like too much…
