AN OLYMPIC POOL FOR US ALONE

Ready for a refreshing dip!

The journey from Swakopmund to Tsumeb covers almost six hundred kilometres. We no longer drive such distances in one day unless we absolutely have to. So, we decided to make a stopover in Omaruru on February 19, 2025. This also gave us the opportunity to visit friends there who we hadn’t seen for some time.

When we drove on towards Tsumeb the next morning, we knew everything that had happened in Omaruru over the last two years. Among other things, a few break-ins, from which our friends were not spared. But if you are not physically threatened and have to fear for your life, it is bearable. If you are given the choice «money or blood», then you choose the former…

On February 20, 2025, in the early afternoon, we arrived in Tsumeb. There we stayed at the Kupferquelle Resort, a campsite under shady and sprawling trees. From Camp 14, which wasn’t our first time camping, we have a view of the nearby 50-meter swimming pool. After we settled into our camp and changed clothes, we walked over there. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw that we were the only swimmers. This time we didn’t even share the swimming pool with the ducks…
