Where is my mum?
After breakfast and a refreshing swim, we left Tsumeb heading north on February 21, 2025. The B1 took us along Lake Otjikoto, where we dived over twenty years ago for the Krupp cannons, which lie at a depth of over 40 meters. (But that’s another story!)
We drove through a lush green landscape and past small fields where corn was sprouting. The grass was up to a meter high on both sides of the road. Shortly before Omuthiya we turned to King Nehale Gate and the Gondwana lodge of the same name. Here we were greeted with a home-made ice cream – a promising start!
After a delicious dinner we went to bed at 10 pm. The next morning, we woke up early because we had booked an early morning drive to Etosha Park. At 6:30 am we boarded a Toyota Land Cruiser. Omandumba, the driver, took us for six hours through the northern part of Etosha. What we saw that morning was simply incredible: several large herds of elephants and giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and three cheetahs! A young cheetah was sitting on the edge of the road and calling pitifully for its mother – we would have liked to take him with us!
