Unforgettable Moments...
The name fits! Since we got here, a steady wind has been blowing over the dunes and singing us a song. I noticed that the wind also transports sand last night when I had sand between my teeth. But the oryx steak from the grill, the tomato and pepperoni salad and the garlic cheese bread tasted good anyway. The sausage ring that Marianne had given us also tasted delicious. The Braii was accompanied by a bottle of rosé wine. What more could you want?
The sky was overcast in the evening; it looked like rain. But later the wind blew the clouds away; above us was a twinkling starry sky. When the wind fell asleep it was as calm as it can only be in the desert. Apart from the crackling of the fire, nothing could be heard. The espresso was accompanied by a glass of port (for Brigitta) and a whiskey (for me) and a Dannemann cigar (the last from Brazil!). These are nights and moments that you will never forget …
The next morning the sun woke us up, rising at 6:30 am. And we with her. The first thing I did was put the solar lights in the sun so they’d be charged again by tonight. Then I went to the open-air shower. Can a day start better?
PS. Speaking of the view: Where do you get a view of the Kalahari dunes when you sit on the toilet? Here!
