A thirsty visitor!
We have become accustomed to special visitors since living in Swakopmund. So, we already got a visit from a springbok, who was enjoying the hedge. Also, two young sparrows, Piep and Matz, who fell out of the nest, let us nurse them. At the moment we also have Lovebirds, as the pink parrots are called here, visiting us. Mousebirds fly in in the evening, spend the night in the tree and fly out again in the morning. Two years ago, an elephant even came to visit Rossmund. However, we didn’t get to see it because we were still on the road at the time.
We had a very special visitor at the Goanikontes oasis a few days ago. We were unsuspectingly sitting at the camping table having an aperitif when suddenly a duiker approached. He didn’t seem to like a piece of pear, he wanted water. However, he preferred it from my drinking bottle and not out from my hand. (We later learned this duiker was raised by human with a nursing bottle!)
