Bird view on Kandersteg
It’s not for nothing that Kandersteg and the Bernese Oberland are so popular with wanderers. There are countless opportunities to hike in beautiful surroundings – especially nice when the weather is nice. Something that is in short supply in the summer of 2024. So, we use every beautiful day to do something outdoors.
We did that a few days ago. We laced up our hiking boots and Brigitta packed a small backpack. Even though this hike would only take about two hours, we didn’t want to miss out on water and some energy bars.
First, we went along the Kander, whose water level has risen half a meter after the heavy rain. Fortunately, however, the river never overflowed its banks; and fortunately we had no debris flows during this time.
A yellow signpost (which is also typical for Switzerland) showed us the way upwards to the Höh (Height). As the name suggests, this viewing point is a good two hundred meters above Kandersteg. There the panoramic path winds through the forest along the mountain side. As you can see, the path deserves its name…
