After a short week with us Spiky returned on January 25, 2025 to where the hedgehog population from Rossmund originated. A few hundred meters from our house stands another with a larger garden. There is a large wooden box in the garden and the hedgehog family from which Spiky comes lives. However, the hedgehogs also have an exit into the garden. And one of the hedgehog mothers escaped from the garden to give birth to Spiky on the golf course. (At least that’s how we imagine it!) And there we found him a few days ago, weakened in the grass. In the meantime, he has grown in weight, has become fit again and has also become trusting.

Spiky grew dear to us during his short stay even though he is a prickly being. (We just assume that it is a male hedgehog – but we don’t know that for sure!) Our kitten will probably not miss him. She once sniffed his spiked dress – that was enough for her. And we are no longer woken up when Spiky wakes up to life at night. Then he turned his cardboard house over and crawled loudly around in his box.
