OFFSPRING ON THE GOLF COURSE

Well camouflaged!

I didn’t learn to play golf until I was over 70 years old. Or at least try to. And Brigitta was almost sixty years old when she picked up a golf club for the first time. If you learn a new sport at this age, it’s no longer as easy as it was when you were a teenager. But the most important thing for us is that we get exercise and have fun playing golf. And that’s easy for us in Rössmund, where springboks move elegantly across the fairway and graze on the green.

When we played a round of golf two days ago, we saw that there were offspring on the golf course. Now is the time when the springboks give birth to their young. They are then well camouflaged in a niche in the ground or in the bushes. An offspring, only several hours old was so well camouflaged that I would have walked closely by if Brigitta had not pointed it out to me. It is fascinating to see how the young springboks, just a few days after their birth, make big leaps into the air and chase each other across the golf course…

PS: Speaking of golf: a 12-year-old boy won the New Year’s tournament – against golfers who have been playing golf for decades! That comforts me!
