After a stopover in Windhoek, we arrived back in Swakopmund on November 8th, 2024. We had an almost two-month journey that took us 10,450 kilometres through southern Africa.
Wonderful memories of the Wild Flower Season in Namaqualand, South Africa will remain. We were lucky that the season wasn’t over yet and experienced an incredible display of flowers. The trip through the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area and of course the visit to the Kruger National Park will also be particularly memorable.
A highlight was the Easter Highlands in Zimbabwe, where we spent three nights in a great lodge, played golf and watched birds! The days at the Mana Pools, on the Zambezi, remain unforgettable – also because of the temperature, which was more than 40° C. On the journey along Lake Kariba, we got to see a piece of original Africa and eat freshly smoked fish.
This time Botswana was just a transit country. But we will remember it because we bought a painting by a San artist in Ghanzi that will decorate our apartment in Swakopmund!
If you want to read more about this short but interesting journey, read the articles on our homepage. We are now in the process of regaining a foothold in Swakopmund. Our kitten, who we were really looking forward to, will help us with this!
