September 27, 2024: This place on Chris Lamprecht’s farm is one of the most beautiful we have stayed at. A braai at waist height and not so that you get a backache while grilling! I grilled the two entrecôtes that we had with us for a few days on the coals to perfection! Brigitta served the rest of the risotto with this. I contributed a bottle of Shiraz. For dessert there was Cailler chocolate which we love so much. A hot espresso and a glass of whiskey rounded off this unforgettable evening in this wonderful place.

There were still embers in the fireplace when we climbed into the sleeping bags. The temperature was such that we no longer needed a sweater. The night was quiet, broken only by the roar of a baboon at 4 am. We roared back and then we fell asleep again, only to wake up again at six in the morning – by then it was already light here.

We took it very easy this morning. We wanted to spend this day here and enjoy the surroundings. Brigitta is baking bread – it has enough embers. In between, she plays her Indian flute, which we bought in Arizona a few years ago. The echo carries the melodies far and also makes the birds sing.

The beer bread will be ready to bake in an hour – Brigitta found the baking mix in a Spar. South Africans know where to use beer everywhere!
