What a beautiful paddle steamer!
Nothing against Lake Zurich – it’s also beautiful, even if it’s very built up all around. And when the water temperature rises to around 28° C, as it did in the summer of 2024, swimming is no longer as refreshing.
Lake Thun, where we swam for the last two days, is completely different. This refreshingly cool and clear water is simply wonderful. And then there is the pleasant, small public swimming pool in Faulensee, where only locals and a few tourists who have not yet returned home can be found. No stress, no music, just a beautiful location. Apart from us are only locals and a few tourists who have not yet returned home. A beautiful mountain world all around. Every now and then a ship docks in Faulensee and then crosses the lake to the other side.
And what an experience when the Blümlisalp steams past. My siblings and our parents took this ship from Thun to Sundlauenen seventy (!) years ago to spend our vacation at the lake. (That was a time when Swiss went on holiday in Switzerland – I saw the sea for the first time when I was twenty!)
