CHEERS!

63 corks missing before completion!

It was Brigitta’s idea to make a curtain of champagne corks over our (empty) wine barrel, which serves as a table for aperitifs or for a cactus. I liked this suggestion from the start. But I wondered if it wouldn’t take too long until we had enough champagne corks for this special curtain.

But you have good friends for a project like this. Those who live on Zurich’s Gold Coast and regularly drink good champagne. Others prefer Prosecco. But these bottles also have wide corks. We ourselves like to drink sparkling wine from South Africa. And these are also sealed with the typical champagne corks. So, it was only a matter of time before Brigitta would have enough corks for this curtain.

The collection campaign was extremely successful. Within a year did we have the 252 corks that Brigitta needed for this curtain. She pierced them and lined them up on silk in 12 rows, each with 21 corks and colorful beads between. This decorative curtain has been hanging above our wine barrel for two weeks now and greets our visitors with a happy: CHEERS!
