Beautiful morning at the sea!
After three unforgettable days in the Kleine Zalze, we packed up. As beautiful as it was here; we were looking forward to the onward journey. The weather was once again sunny when we started the engine on November 13th, 2023 and drove towards Hermanus. Where the whales lose themselves in the bay in winter and teach their young to swim before they make the long journey to Antarctica.
We didn’t see any whales that day because we were a month too late. But that didn’t bother us because we came across Gelateria Maria Mania. The display made our mouths water (especially me!). The selection was huge and the choice was correspondingly difficult. For me there was a scoop of vanilla and coffee; for Brigitta Pistache and Vanilla. Mmmmmm!
We said goodbye to Hermanus with something sweet in our stomachs. We followed the coast towards Cape Town, passing wineries and huge wheat fields that glowed golden yellow. How beautiful life can be! We didn’t feel like after a long day of driving and so we soon started looking for somewhere to stay overnight. We found these in Kleinmond. When we got there, we had covered less than 150 kilometers.
As we stood in front of the entrance to the Palmiet Caravan Park, we realized that we had already spent a night at this place by the sea once. On October 13th, 2010, when we traveled to South Africa after Australia. (We share the large space with three other vehicles; that’s how many there are on Lake Garda, each covering forty square meters!)
