A CONCERT OF A DIFFERENT KIND

Thirty Musicians on Stage!

We not only appreciated the gastronomic but also the cultural offer in Zurich. A Bratwurst at Zurich’s Bellevue was always an experience; and visiting classical concerts too. We fondly remember the finale of the Conductor’s Academy and other concerts in the Tonhalle, which has been Zurich’s concert hall since 1895. (The CS was founded on July 5, 1856; but it no longer exists!)

Since we moved our place of residence in the Zurich region to Kandersteg last year, not only the culinary offer (e.g., «Hamme», Rösti and «Suure Mocke») has changed, but also the cultural offer. Here, cultural events are mostly held in the community hall, where community meetings are also held. (We weren’t allowed to vote on the last one, you can only do that if you’ve lived in Kandersteg for more than six months.)

However, no one objected to our attending the Kandersteg Music Society concert, which took place on March 25, 2023, in the community hall. It was a special kind of experience! For the first time we got to hear the Bundesrat-Rösti-March! (There is probably also an Adolf Ogi March; but that was not performed that evening.) And also, the young musicians presented a piece they had composed themselves. Bravo!

PS: Cedric Fuhrer, a young Swiss composer, dedicated one of his works to the endangered Apollo butterfly. A compliment, dear Cedric!
