Ready for a refreshing splash?
We’ve seen quite a few beautiful oases during our travels. For example, Wadi al Kebir, in Oman. Or Source Blue de Meski, in Morocco. Or the Liwa Oasis in Dubai. A particularly beautiful one, Goanikontes, is on our doorstep; only forty kilometers from Swakopmund, inland.
Goanikontes is known not only for the excellent food served there (apart from the fresh beer in iced glasses!) but also for the fact that this oasis is fog-free. If it gets too foggy on the coast, take a trip to Goanikontes where the sun is shining.
For us, this oasis is the closest destination. If we feel like a change of air, then we drive the 40 kilometers to Goanikontes with Mahangu, who is always ready to go in the garage. The route takes us via the lunar landscape, which rightly bears its name, to the oasis, which is also the destination of the tourists, whose cruise ships dock in Walvis Bay for the night.
