ON THE WAY TO THE KALAHARI

Time for a Break!

Since nobody showed up at the Hudup camp to open the toilet and shower for us, we drove on to Mariental on February 8th, 2021. There we bought everything we needed for the next few days; also a monthly subscription from NamTelcom. (We have been incommunicado for two days; something that also has its advantages …)

On the M29 we continued in a south-easterly direction. After thirty kilometers we reached Lapa Lange, a Lodge that offered us (almost) everything we needed: pool, shady veranda and campsite – but this one with little shade! We used the time to bring our website up-to-date.

Two days later we left the lodge in direction of South Africa and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. But that wasn’t our goal. The goal was the DuneSong Breathers on the 19,000 ha (!) large farm of Pieter Rust, which is located in the foothills of the Kalahari. What we had read about it made us want to visit …

PS. Rainy season or not: Most of the time we have blue skies. And the temperatures are such that we want to jump into the pool ..
