The rainy season leaves its mark!
The meteorologists predicted a good rainy season in Namibia at the end of last year. I do not know how and why they could predict this. Somebody told me that the La Niña weather phenomenon should also be responsible for this. (And 2021 should be a La Niña year.) But after I did some searching into Google today, I don’t think it has anything to do with it.
Be that as it may: What is certain, is that we are experiencing a very good rainy season in Namibia. The time has come that many Namibians want it to be less rainy. Some of the dams are already full to bursting and the locks had to be opened. And in the south of the country, heavy rain has affected many houses, streets and the railway line.
However, we mainly experience the rainy season from its beautiful side. We never saw as much water and water birds in the Etosha Pan as we do now. And the Etosha National Park has never been so green.
PS. The tracks in Etosha are also affected by the heavy rains. It is definitely better now if you are traveling with a 4×4. Like us!
