Wine made in Namibia!
Overnight stays near vineyards are not unusual for us. When we were for a few weeks in Switzerland in late autumn 2020, we stayed with friends whose house is on the edge of a vineyard. If we looked out the window, we saw how the leaves of the vines changed color from day to day in various shades of red.
Now if we look out of the roof tent, we can see the vineyards of father and son Boshoff, where it is currently harvest time. The winemaker for the Thonningii Wine Cellar and the Otavi Winery is Gilmar Boshoff, who also has a small campsite attached to his winery. We stayed there for two nights and enjoyed the good wines with an excellent tasting menu. The evening was crowned by the fact that there was homemade ice cream for dessert. But the icing on the cake was that the ice cream is produced with cream made by the Boshoffs from the milk of their Jersey cows.
PS. The Boshoffs currently produce between 5,000 and 9,000 bottles of wine per year. A few of them are on the road with us and will remind us of a nice stop when we uncork …
