ON THE OKAVANGO

Under the supervision of big mama!

We have now been traveling for more than a week along the banks of the Okavango. Whatever the name of the river, it is a pleasure to follow it. After the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the Okavango in the Caprivi Strip is probably the most beautiful part of it. It meanders through this part of Namibia, then curves to the southeast in Divundu and flows into the Okavango Delta. The river is a magnet for the big game that quenches thirst on its banks.

With around 450 species of birds, this water-rich region and the rest of the north-east of Namibia are hotspots for bird watchers. Bwabwata National Park, which we visited some days ago, is home to more species than any other region in Namibia. A paradise for bird lovers, to whom we belonge for several years!

PS. On the sunset cruise that we made from the Riverdance Lodge, we met a group of hippos. And a dead goat that was floating in the river and being torn in pieces by a crocodile …
