Happy Reunion!
We were very skeptical of what to expect at home in times of Covid 19. Other travelers who went home had warned us that they have been welcomed with an «elbow greeting» and mask. And meticulous distance rules also had to be adhered to. (We wondered how to do that if you want to hug somebody?)
We experienced the first positive surprise at the airport when we were greeted by friends with a mask* but with wide open arms and a hug.
The second and also positive surprise followed in a restaurant, where friends invited us to lunch. Upon entering, we were told that we do not have to wear a mask. After filling out the guest list, we were shown to the table where our friends were already sitting. Traudel extended her elbow to greet us (but only for fun!) and then gave us a hearty hug, as befits Austrians. The same thing happened with Gerhard. Thank you, dear friends, for welcoming us in this way …
* Wearing the mask was compulsory in the airport building! We only really recognized each other when we could take them off in the car – smile!
