Wine-Country of Stellenbosch!
The first time I visited South Africa was during apartheid; for two nights also on board the famous blue train. Back then I had every evening some arguments with South Africans who treated their dogs better than the blacks! I have better memories from our trip to South Africa together in 2010. At that time, Nelson Mandela was still the president and the country was in transition.
We have been traveling around South Africa for three days now; and we love it! What a country! We are currently in the Western Cape, probably one of the most beautiful areas the country has. Not only do stone fruits grow here (apricots, nectarines, plums), but wineries are also expanding here that need not fear comparison with those in Bordeaux! (My brother and I almost bought the Peter Falke Winery many years ago!)
We are amazed every day by what the country has to offer. The most amazing thing is to see how normal blacks and whites treat each other. Thanks to Nelson Mandela!
PS: Like everywhere else, there are dark sides in South Africa! The power supply is interrupted almost every day for two hours. This will be announced in advance; but imagine something like that in Switzerland!
