Good vibes!
As Christmas approaches, the action starts in Swakopmund. The sleepy coastal town suddenly becomes a place where you have to search for free parking spaces and the otherwise empty streets are clogged. If you look at the license plates of the cars, you can see that Swakopmund is not only a magnet for Namibians from the interior, but also for Botswanans, Angolans and South Africans.
Around Christmas time, there is more going on in Swakopmund than usual. There is a Christmas market, wine tastings and the Indie Festival, which we already visited last year. Not only do good Namibian bands like the Gondwana Undivided perform there, but there is also good beer on tap, a large selection of street food and a great atmosphere. What we liked most is that it is also an occasion for families who come here with their kids. We were surrounded by young people. No wonder we felt younger than usual that day! It was a peaceful day that fits well with the Christmas season…
