«DO YOU HAVE GOOD RAIN?»

It looks like Rain!

During the rainy season in Namibia, we are asked this question again and again. Summertime is the rainy season here. And if it doesn’t rain in summer – when it’s winter in Europe – then there will soon be a lack of water in Namibia because the reservoirs are empty.

Most of Namibia is a dry country and large areas are desert or semi-desert. In such countries one is dependent on rain, because it fills the reservoirs and feeds the water table. The rain is the talk of the day – but for different reasons than ours! The Allgemeine Zeitung reports how much it rained in which region and about the water level in the different reservoirs.

As a tourist, you quickly feel that it is not appropriate to complain about rain in Namibia. It’s like complaining about sunny weather in Switzerland – few people understand it

PS. We are happy with the Namibians about the rain that is now falling on the Caprivi Strip. Usually at night and in the morning, you wake up under a blue sky …
